It is equipped with hi-fidelity mannequins including a Laerdal Sim-Man, Sim-Junior, Sim-Baby and Sim-NewB. The suite also has laparoscopic, GI-Bronch and ultrasound simulators. The sim team is exploring the possibilities of technology enhanced learning including Virtual Reality. There is a busy calendar of postgraduate and undergraduate courses being run by a diverse multi-disciplinary faculty, including mobile simulation. The anaesthetic department has recently been recognised as an exemplar of practice by being the first in the country to be re-accredited by the Royal College of Anaesthetists quality assurance (ACSA) programme https://www.rcoa.ac.uk/node/29121. In particular, the reviewers recommended that our in-situ simulation programme be entered into their “good practice library” for other departments to learn from and emulate. One session will be a Rapid-Access clinic involving triaging patients and seeing emergency patients as appropriate. The St George’s sessions include high-volume follow-up glaucoma clinics and virtual review activity, as well as an Urgent Care acute clinic session.
