Assistant Herd Manager Assistant Herd Manager / 2IC - Cheshire - £40,000 - £60,000 + Accommodation + Benefits The Job: A well established dairy farm is seeking an experienced Herdsperson / 2IC to join the team. Key Responsibilities: - Milking and general herd management - Managing feed and grazing, including grass measuring and use of a plate meter - Herd health and fertility - General stock work - Yard and tractor work - Bedding down animals when required - Supporting the day to day running of the dairy operation The Company: - 650 spring calving dairy cows - 50 point Waikato rotary parlour - Twice a day milking - Grazing based system, with cows housed during winter - Closed herd, with all youngstock reared on farm - Average yield of approximately 7,500 litres - High-quality facilities with a strong focus on animal welfare - No robotic milking The Candidate: - Managing and organising a small team - Herd management - Grassland management - Maintaining high standards of animal health and welfare - Foot trimming - AI experience is desirable This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced dairy worker looking to take on a responsible position within a well run spring calving herd. The Package: - Attractive salary, dependent on experience and suitability for the role - NEST pension scheme - Rent free accommodation with council tax covered - Current accommodation is a 3-bedroom apartment approximately 3 miles from the farm - Potential for alternative/larger accommodation where required - Training and development opportunities, both on and off farm Additional information The salary is flexible and will reflect the experience and abilities of the successful candidate.
