Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced ACP registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our large and supportive Child Psychotherapy team at UCLH. This is very varied and meaningful therapeutic work with patients from infancy to young adulthood (0-24) who are under medical care here as both outpatients and inpatients. You will bring a flexible and creative approach to working therapeutically with babies, children, adolescents, families and the complex medical teams around them. A strong ability to work well within multi-professional teams and with children and families in highly distressing and uncertain situations is essential. We are looking for somebody who can hold the experience and needs of the child/young person at the centre of clinical decision making while working across complex systems. A clinician who can hold a psychoanalytic framework alongside a genuine interest in multi-disciplinary approaches to understanding the links between the body and the mind (including where there is trauma and/or neurodivergence) and with a commitment to their own ongoing learning and development. You will be able to communicate clearly and sensitively with a range of professionals and patients. We are a team of 6 ACP Child Psychotherapists and 3 ACP trainees. We sit within the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychological Medicine at UCLH, made up of psychiatry, clinical psychologists and mental health nurses. The team is well-established, and the work of child psychotherapy is valued and widely understood amongst our medical colleagues. There is a strong tradition of multi-professional working and close collaboration with medical colleagues to work towards sensitive and holistic ways of supporting patients with complex, chronic and life limiting medical conditions. The Paediatric and Adolescent Division is large and busy. It includes secondary care paediatric clinics for our local communities; and several tertiary specialties including specialist services for children and young people with cancer; and a specialist service for complex adolescent health conditions (TRACCS). You will provide specialist assessments, liaison work, short term and longer-term psychotherapy to children and young people receiving outpatient and inpatient medical care. You will also support the treatment of children and young people through offering consultations and reflective practice where appropriate to medical teams. While members of the psychotherapy team are closely linked to specific MDTs and clinical specialties, we also ensure that all members have a varied caseload from across the department. To document and maintain existing and new data feed requirements and work with third party suppliers / trust resources in process mapping, message mapping and integration testing for these feeds. To provide oversight and risk mitigation for interface activities with technical and third-party system interface engagement teams. To provide data conversion/migration expertise. To provide technical documentation such as reference materials, installation instructions, knowledge-based articles, and specifications related to developments and interface feeds. To manage the implementation of developed configuration changes to the trusts clinical applications. To manage the prioritisation of the delivery of developmental changes and system integration improvements by the Trusts Change Management Process. To provide solution functionality and integration expertise to Trust engagement teams; including, but not limited to, system domain (environment) strategy, regulatory, code/package management, optimisation and alignment to national and legislative standards. To provide technical support for custom development, user defined functions, interfaces, reports, extracts, data migration scripts and conversions. To be proficient in the tools supporting implementation and on-going maintenance of the TIE and third-party applications as required. Expert-level knowledge of Azure and/or Snowflake services, including Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure ML, and Power BI/Fabric. Proven experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and building CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. Strong grasp of observability practices, including logging, metrics, alerting, and performance optimization. Deep understanding of cloud security, with experience applying secure-by-design principles in Azure and/or Snowflake (e.g., network isolation, IAM, data protection). Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python. Collaborative mindset, with a proven track record of working effectively across engineering, data science, and business teams. Clear communicator, capable of documenting technical designs, contributing to platform standards, and presenting solutions to stakeholders. The Trauma & Orthopaedic service at UCLH is a busy department, working over different sites; Trauma Orthopaedics in the UCLH main building and Elective Orthopaedics in the new elective centre at Grafton Way Building. The team is led by over 20 consultants who specialise in a range of elective and trauma work. Currently UCLH provides first-class acute and specialist services across 8 sites. As part of our continued vision to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education and word-class research, UCLH will soon be increasing the provision of surgical services by opening a new hospital. You will be part of the Orthopaedic therapy team, which provides services across a number of specialist areas. These include: inpatient Trauma & Elective Orthopaedics, Day Surgery, Joint School and the Virtual Fracture Clinic. Sound orthopaedic assessment, treatment and discharge planning skills are essential.
