To assist, under supervision of a midwife, the provision of safe, effective, and evidence-based care to all women and their families accessing maternity services. The postholder will support and observe the woman and her baby through the antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum period, reporting to the midwife/team leader any changes or information concerning the wellbeing of the woman and her family. The Service was recognised for Excellence in Mental Health at the UK NHS Parliamentary awards. The service covers the emergency mental health pathway for North Central London, this includes the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. The Specialist Community Forensic LD Team or CLDP currently covers the five London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, and aims to provide both assertive pre-discharge (transition management) and high levels of multi-disciplinary community forensic after-care for restricted or unrestricted learning-disabled patients discharged from secure care. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to undertake assessments of LD patients referred to the North London Forensic Service for risk assessment or advice, and will attend professionals multiciliary meetings with generic community teams that refer services users to them. The referrals come from mainly from generic community teams. The post holder will also be expected to join the NLFS consultant group in assessing new external referrals to the service, averaging 9 per year. This includes face-to-face assessments and also joining the Forensic Risk Advice Panel. The post holder will be expected to support the Trust’s Clinical Governance Framework for monitoring and improving standards of care through taking part in activities for improving quality and safety, assisting with NHS PSIRF process, identifying and managing risks within the service, as well as maintaining his or her own continuing professional development. Liaise with the Claimant’s solicitors to obtain sufficient information to ensure compliance. • To identify any claims where there is a litigation risk and reporting these claims to the trust. • Support with the management of complex and/or contentious cases by ensuring that all evidence is requested and obtained in a timely manner, escalating cases where responses are not forthcoming.
