The post holder will be part of the Mental Health Psychiatric Liaison Team which is a model of psychiatric liaison serving the Newham University Hospital including the Emergency Department and the Inpatient Wards. The Service forms part of Newham’s crisis pathway and operates a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service for people aged 16 years and above who present with a suspected mental health, self-harm or drug and alcohol problem. The service will maintain focus on identifying, assessing and care planning for older people. The post holder will be expected to be self-motivating and autonomous with the ability to demonstrate accurate formulations of mental state, risk and need for people over the age of 16 years taking into account medical and social factors and referring on to other disciplines in the team or other agencies as appropriate within the given timeframes for the service. The post holder will provide advice on mental health issues and participate in carrying out training programmes for clinical teams on the management of a wide variety of mental health problems. Have a wide base of clinical skills, knowledge and experience appropriate to the needs of individual patients over the age of 16 years and to the clinical settings in which they are required to be seen. We welcome applications fromexperienced Podiatrists, as well asnewly qualified Podiatrists Band 5 looking for an exciting opportunity to develop towards aBand 6 Specialist Podiatristthrough our service development pathway. • Work alongside the Specialist Podiatrist, Clinical Lead and wider healthcare professionals to provide seamless, safe and high-quality patient care. • Undertake specialist clinics as part of a clinical rotation and CPD programme, including Biomechanics, Wound Care and Nail Surgery clinics. • Autonomously assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate clinical assessment and diagnostic techniques. • Deliver specialist podiatric interventions including sharp debridement, local anaesthesia, calculation of maximum safe doses, nail surgery and the appropriate use of caustic treatments. • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including GPs, Practice Nurses, Community Nursing, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and consultant-led secondary care teams, including Rheumatology and Diabetes. • Take an active role in planning and delivering health promotion, education and training across the service and Trust. • Promote the Podiatry Service to healthcare professionals and the wider community to support appropriate referrals and access to the service Please note: This role involves amix of clinic and domiciliary work, and the successful candidate will be required to undertake visits within patients’ homes and clinic settings.
