A whole time equivalent position for a Trust Registrar has become available to join the General Surgery Emergency Team at Northwick Park Hospital. This post is a fixed term post of 12 months in General Surgery which includes Emergency and Elective Colorectal and Upper GI surgery. The post holder will be required to provide clinical support to the surgical teams, outpatient clinics and partake in the 1 in 12 on call middle grade Rota. The General Surgery Team has a dedicated Consultant-led General and Emergency Service which includes a Surgical Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Hot Clinic supporting the A&E flow. Candidate will get vast exposure to complex and innovative emergency surgical management of the patients and will also get surgical exposure to the elective surgical theatres. The implementation of the new junior doctor contract has provided an opportunity to create an exciting new Rota which both provides excellent training opportunities and robust service provision. As well as exposure to a full range of emergency general surgery experience, the post also involves experience with a full range of Upper and Lower GI specialist surgery. Candidates must have GMC registration and surgical experience at ST2 level as a minimum. The role of Perinatal Specialist Peer Support Worker (Perinatal SpPSW) has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of recovery from perinatal mental health challenges. In the context of Westminster Perinatal Mental Health Services, postholders will have experienced recovery from perinatal mental health challenges and accessed support through a perinatal mental health service in relation to this. Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, Perinatal SpPSW inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. Using recovery principles and socially inclusive practice, the post-holder will support service users in their personal recovery journeys through the Perinatal Mental Health Service. This means providing peer support for mums who experience similar mental health and social needs during the perinatal period. They will foster a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, to promote choice, self-determination, opportunities and hope. They will raise awareness about local resources and opportunities that may assist people in maintaining their recovery. They will encourage and support service users to use community and children’s resources that are available to them, and support the Perinatal Service with developing links with these resources. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist (1.0WTE) to join the CYP Community Eating Disorders Service in a senior clinical role. Suitable applicants will have extensive experience in CAMHS settings and in supervision and consultation. They will have excellent knowledge and skills related to NICE concordant treatments for eating disorders and would most likely have worked in a specialist CAMHS eating disorders service at some point. However, applications will be welcomed from those who have expertise in working with young people who are on the autism spectrum or those with complex mental health presentations. The post holder will hold a caseload, as well as contributing substantial therapeutic expertise in working with families where a young person has an eating disorder, as well as contributing to consultation with colleagues from other services. Working autonomously in a specialist rough sleeping community mental health team within the parameters of the role leading on implementing the delivery of quality nursing care, contributing to the physical, psychological, social, recreational and spiritual care in a recovery-focused way through therapeutic engagement and activities, and taking steps to address any issues that arise. 2. Leading on and undertaking activities to ensure that the fundamentals of care are met - nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support. 3. Supporting the patients management of care needs through: a. Initial data collection b. Monitoring of individual service user / patient progress c. Feedback and discussion d. Producing reports and in-care reviews e. Devising a plan of care and interventions supervised by a Registered Nurse. 4. In a junior leadership role leading on and directing junior to staff in providing hands-on care to service users including: a. Undertaking 1-1 engagement with service users in an honest, open and non-judgmental way. b. Recognising and valuing service users as individuals, acknowledging the importance of always maintaining the service user’s respect and dignity and ensure that the care provided respects equality and diversity. c. Contributing to the development of care plans that reflect service user needs and relevant patient care documentation working in partnership with service users, wider MDT and friends/relatives/significant others. d. Escalating any concerns to relevant Health Care Professional. e. Monitoring and recording service user clinical observations, such as physical observations and vital signs and escalating as appropriate any signs or symptoms of deterioration or that do not fulfil the personal parameters to the relevant professional (Registered Nurse or Doctors). Promote healthy lifestyles and give health promotion advice and support. f. Implementing the principles of ‘recovery’: encouraging and supporting service users to engage with healthy lifestyles, facilitating psychosocial activities and other activities of their interest. Where appropriate contributing to psychological interventions under the guidance of a registered professional. 5. Escorting service users, as required, in line with Trust policies. 6. Advocating for service users’ needs and rights within Trust policy. Encouraging and empowering service users to have an optimum level of responsibility for their individual programme of care. 7. Supporting the registered nurse to coordinate and prioritise activities within the clinical area and in the community.
