The successful candidate will deliver specialist stroke and neurological speech and language therapy as a member of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team, providing care to adult patients who have had a recent stroke or are diagnosed with a neurological condition as part of the specialist in-patient service (Beech Ward, St Margarets Hospital) and Early Supported Discharge Team (community). We are looking for a speech and language therapist to work in our Stroke Early Supported Discharge Service. This job will allow you to broaden your knowledge base. Stroke survivors often feel isolated and vulnerable after they are discharged from hospital. Our team is there to allay these fears and support stroke survivors at this difficult time, whilst also providing them with therapy and nursing support should they need it. On a day to day basis you will deliver speech and language therapy alongside our other speech and language therapists for people with communication and swallowing disorders following a stroke who have been discharged from hospital into the care of the ESD service for South East Essex We offer a highly motivated and supportive team, regular supervision, excellent training and development opportunities and flexible working arrangements. CAPs are trained to work with a particular service user group and in this case with adults with suspected/ confirmed neurodivergencetherefore providing a more proscribed range of assessments and interventions than Clinical Psychologists. We are seeking to recruit a trainee CAP to be based in the North Essex Autism service (Holmer Court, Colchester base as well as some remote working). Our Autism and ADHD services will though be combining across the Trust to form an Essex wide Neurodivergence Service so it is an exciting time to be joining the teams. Those appointed will workalongside qualified Psychologists, and together with MDT colleagues including nursing staff, Occupational Therapists, Consultant Psychiatrists, other CAPs and Assistant Psychologists. The role will include screening referrals for diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD, carrying out initial assessments of autism and/ or ADHD as well as developing skills and learning to support with formal diagnostic assessments and facilitating interventions including primarily groups and some individual work.If successful in their training, on qualification, CAPs can apply for a Band 6 CAP role.
