An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated person to join the Humber Diabetic Eye Screening Programme as a Retinal Screener. The successful applicant will work with the Diabetic Eye screening team and be responsible for providing visual acuity examinations and digital photography during diabetic eye screening clinics. The successful applicant will be given full in house training to ensure they are competent to administer patient eye drops and perform a visual acuity test in preparing the patient for digital photography. The successful applicant will also be given full training to perform digital photography of the patient’s retina in a dark environment within an office or mobile unit. Excellent patient management during clinics is essential to ensure a timely screening process. The successful candidate must hold a current and full manual driving license and will be expected to undertake a trust driving assessment. The post holder is required to work towards and complete a Health Screener Diploma in Retinal Screening. The post holder will be supported to complete training requirements and the NHS Screener diploma with an allocated mentor/Assessor. The 4 mandatory units of the Health Screener Diploma are to be completed within 4 months of appointment to work independently, with the remainder of the qualification to be completed within 2 years of appointment to post. If you terminate your employment with the Trust during a programme of study, or up to 1 year following completion, you may be required to reimburse the Trust’s contribution towards course fees. The final reimbursement figure will be determined after considering the benefits afforded to service to date. The successful applicants must have a BSc (Hon) Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, and current HCPC registration. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience /skills in either CT or MRI. Full training will be given in both modalities. Your base hospital will be the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Work pattern will be 12 hour shifts over a seven day week, giving an excellent work/life balance. The department has 3 MRI scanners (a mixture of Siemens Aera and Sola scanners) and 3 CT scanners (a mixture of Siemens Definition and Edge scanners). We carry out a wide range of scanning including CT/MRI cardiac, enterography, CT colonography, CT intervention and MR breast. You would be expected to rotate through all scanners in the department and our modern, purpose-built imaging hub incorporating new CT and MRI scanners. The department is fully committed to role extension and has practicing Radiographers undertaking Ultrasound, Barium Swallows, CT Colonoscopies and plain film reporting. It is expected that you will need to work cross site at times in order to provide clinic support therefore ability to travel cross site is essential. Alongside the delivery of expert high-quality care to patients, the post holder will exercise a high degree of personal independence and professional autonomy and will take responsibility for the following areas: • To lead a comprehensive highly specialist nursing service for patients receiving care across the haematology pathway • Nurse led clinics, utilising clinical examination skills, non-medical prescribing, and order of diagnostics investigations with management of results. • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage the haematology pathway • Collaborating and working with the MDT and wider MDT, ensuring a high-quality integrated service which meets local, regional and national standards • Provide expert patient care from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care • Provide expert knowledge and understanding of haematological diseases and associated treatments. • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures. • Contribute to the development of local guidelines, protocols and standards for diagnostic pathway. • Take responsibility for the management of patients within own caseload and supervision/development of junior members of the multi-professional team. The post holder is responsible for managing the performance and contract activities of the Directorate to ensure delivery of its strategic and operational objectives in line with Facilities objectives and business plan as well as Trust objectives and key performance indicators. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Facilities to ensure efficient and effective management of all resources in order to deliver safe, high quality and effective service to the Trust and its patients in an environment of continuous improvement. • Accountable for key performance targets across Facilities. • To develop and implement performance management systems to support delivery of Facilities objectives. • To manage Facilities contracts and monitor against agreed performance indicators putting remedial action in place when necessary. To hold quarterly review meetings with Contractors. • To have operational responsibility for the effective management of the business activities of the Directorate and the Administrative Team. • Lead and manage the Cleanliness Monitoring Team and be responsible for delivering the Joint Cleanliness Monitoring programme across the Trust Manage the accommodation function ensuring the allocation of residential rooms to Doctors in training ensuring accommodation is available as required as well as meeting appropriate standards of cleanliness, repair and environment. • Through the analysis and interpretation of a wide range of complex information, continuously monitor the operational and financial performance of Facilities, prepare and present options for improvement and ensure that corrective action is taken promptly when progress against plan is not as expected. • Ensure that all information relating to the activity of Facilities is recorded accurately and in a timely manner to enable performance to be continuously monitored. • Work closely with colleagues in the Procurement, Finance and HR functions to ensure that relevant information regarding Facilities activity and performance is available. This move will bring specialist services together in a modern, purpose-built facility to improve patient care and team experience.
