We are looking to recruit experienced cardiac sonographers in the Cardiac Investigations Unit. The successful candidates will work as part of a highly skilled team of sonographers alongside the Imaging consultants to deliver the busy service. The specialised team perform over 13,000 TTE’s 650 Dobutamine & Exercise Stress Echocardiography each year as well as the advanced techniques within Cardiac Ultrasound such as, Transesophageal echo (TOE), 3D TTE/TOE & Contrast Echocardiography. As part of our tertiary centre work, we also provide Paediatric and Adult Congenital Echocardiography in partnership with Liverpool and Alder Hey. You should be BSE accredited, possess BSc in clinical physiology or equivalent and be on the AHCS register. As a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist the post holder will be required to work as an autonomous, competent practitioner of echocardiography based at the Cardiac Investigations Unit and working across our community diagnostic centres. Providing a highly specialised clinical and technical service in echocardiography that impacts directly upon the clinical management of the patient. This will be underpinned by highly developed specialist knowledge gained by postgraduate training and completion of a relevant qualifications. Assist in the delivery of the technical service of a section/subsection or designated area of work to nationally accepted standards (UKAS or equivalent) with appropriate supervision to include the following: 1. 1. Supply a high level of technical expertise in the investigative procedures involved and take a daily responsibility for his/her own work, subject to the supervision and direction of section head or other senior staff. Be adaptable to changing diagnostic workload pressures, by making independent day-to-day decisions about own workload. The post holder will be working as a band 3 healthcare assistant within a highly specialised Ophthalmology Surgery and Clinic setting. This role involves admitting and preparing patients for Ophthalmic procedures, assessing visual acuity, preparing patients for fluroescein angiogram. There will be a requirement to continually adapt with the service as work within a nurse led services which includes intravitreal injecting. You would be involved in preparing patients for procedures such as: • Retinal detachments (PPV) • Cataract surgery • Plastic surgery • Biopsies • Laser eye surgery • Emergency and trauma surgery • Due to restructuring within the unit in an attempt to grow our expanding service we require a passionate and positive individual who have pride in their work.
