    This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified pharmacist or pharmacist wishing to transition to a role within the acute sector and be part of a forward thinking pharmacy team. The posts are open to applications from existing foundation trainees. The posts are also open to applicants who wish to work cross-sector. As a clinical pharmacist you will be immersed in the ward environment and responsible for delivering ward based clinical pharmacist and medicines management duties, working to ensure patient's medicines are accurately and promptly reconciled on admission and clinically effective. You will be part of the wider multi-professional team to ensure patients' medicines are optimised during admission and you will work to ensure seamless transfer of care through effective discharge planning and verification. You will act as responsible pharmacist in the dispensary on a rostered basis (typically one slot per week) and work flexibly across a range of specialties on a 4 monthly rotational basis. You will rotate through aseptics and chemotherapy services ensuring you have a well rounded skill set as a junior pharmacist. You will have weekly protected teaching, a dedicated mentor and line manager to ensure you can thrive and develop your clinical skills and progress within the department. The Trust uses an electronic patient records and electronic prescribing and medicines administration system. We have a large cohort of Non-Medical Prescribers and are passionate in supporting our team of pharmacists to gain this qualification, along with the post-graduate clinical certificate/diploma. We have strong links with our local universities with three teacher practitioners. We were an early-adopter site for the RPS’s Transfer of Care initiative which led to the creation of the world's first fully integrated hospital to community pharmacy e-referral system: Refer-to-Pharmacy. We have a Homecare team and specialist pharmacists within the Dermatology, Rheumatology, Cardiology and Gastroenterology directorates providing out-patient clinics. To participate in skills training and assessment prior to undertaking additional roles 2. To attend in-service training and support meetings where provided. To care for and be responsible for the maintenance of equipment used within the Outpatient clinic including Humphrey Visual Field Analyser data transfer. 4. To undertake basic clerical and housekeeping duties as directed by the Department Manager. 5. To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision once trained and competent, including for example, blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, safe use of the hoist, always ensuring delivery of high quality patient care.     PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY We are looking for a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join our Microbiology Team on a full time basis. Biomedical Scientists (BMS) are an integral part of the laboratory team responsible for the diagnosis of infection and disease processes by the application of latest scientific knowledge, coupled with the most up to date scientific methods and use of traditional methods where required. BMS carry out, and interpret the results of, laboratory tests on biomedical samples that will aid clinical staff in the diagnoses of illness and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. Further professional development will be expected, as the post holder works towards a Specialist Diploma in Medical Microbiology. 1. To interpret clinical details and patient demographic data for the allocation of tests to samples. 2. To process biomedical samples using various techniques with a high degree of competency in accordance with standard operating procedures, providing accurate and timely appropriate results. 3. To accurately interpret and report timely complex analytical results, and authorise Microbiology reports according to laboratory policy. 4. To communicate effectively test results by telephone, printed report or electronic report, deal with telephone enquiries, and provide technical advice to laboratory users. 5. To be able to make decisions regarding the quality of specimens and the validity of test data and ensure any anomalies / errors are reported to Senior BMS staff as soon as possible. 6. To use complex and technical laboratory equipment in the course of their duties including maintenance and troubleshooting of the equipment.
