LAS FY1 post in Medicine We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated FY1 doctor to join our Medicine team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy and supportive medical department, contributing to the assessment, management and ongoing care of acutely unwell medical patients. The post includes on-call duties within the medical take team, frailty, CCU and also ward cover. The successful candidate will work closely with consultants, registrars and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely and patient-centred care. This is a fast-paced clinical environment, and the successful applicant will be proactive, well organised and able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will rotate through a variety of medical wards and specialities gaining exposure and education in the areas of general and specialist medicine. Ward placement would usually be for 3 months and could involve rotating through general medicine, elderly care, respiratory, diabetes and endocrinology, haematology, cardiology, gastroenterology and acute medicine. He/she will be expected to participate in most of the day-to-day activities of the department in cooperation with the rest of the medical staff. In addition, there will be involvement in the out of hours rota paid in additional allowances per 2016 Junior doctor contract. This will include work on the medical take and post-take as well as ward cover. The FY1 rota does not include night shifts. An exciting position has arose as a Hospital Alcohol Liaison Specialist Nurse as part of The Health Early Action Team at the RLI. The team operates both a nurse liaison service and a case management model to coordinate and plan care for some of the most vulnerable patients who have alcohol/substance misuse and homelessness issues, attending our hospital's. You will work closely with inpatient teams, community care co-ordinators, integrated care communities, other healthcare professionals and 3rd sector organisations to manage patients health and wellbeing, making sure that appropriate support is made available to them and their careers and also ensuring that their changing needs are addressed and facilitating health behaviour change, acting as a part of the wider multiagency team using a better care together approach. Act as a Liaison Nurse, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge whilst participating in direct evidenced based patient care. Opportunities have arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Your work within the Critical Care Unit at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust will be based at Royal Preston Hospital (RPH). There is a 34-beded critical care unit admitting over 1300 patients per year at Royal Preston Hospital, this is a mixed unit made up of level 2 & 3 beds. It has a varied case mix including General Medicine, General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, Renal Neurosciences, Upper-Gastrointestinal and Maxillofacial Surgery. There's also an Enhanced Care Unit at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital run by 20 Consultants with an interest in Intensive Care, along with junior support staff. The Department has undergone a period of rapid expansion, which is reflected in the age and attitude of its career grade members. This post will cover 5 clinical sessions per week. 50% of the role will involve working alongside the Ophthalmology doctors reviewing a variety of patients with ophthalmic conditions. The other 50% of the role will support the triage service. The triage service receives referrals from multiple sources including gps, opticians, Streaming from the walk in centre and accident and emergency, the wards also refer patients. Patients with long term ophthalmic conditions can also access triage when required. The post holderwill be expected to act as an autonomous ophthalmic nurse practitioner to co-ordinate the assessment of care needs and the development, implementationand evaluation ofappropriate programsof care for patients requiring ophthalmic emergency care. The Research Business Development Manager will be key to providing local expertise, knowledge and business intelligence to support the development and growth of clinical research activity across the Trust.
