Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a vacancy for a FY2 Trust doctor in Surgery at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. This post is for 12 months (September 2026 to September 2027). The post holder will be working with the Peritoneal Malignancy surgery team and providing medical cover for the C2 ward. The successful applicant will be part of a busy surgical unit which includes tertiary services for peritoneal malignancy. The post will suit SHO level doctors prior to a formal core training scheme, who wish to gain comprehensive exposure to acute and elective surgery. The operative exposure is flexible and can be tailored to the experience and abilities of individual trainees. The post is designed to provide clinical and academic exposure to assist with application to training programs. The post is based on the ward, but the successful candidate will have the opportunity to have a time to use to work in a clinical area to help them further advance their CV or clinical experience. This will be agreed prior to the successful candidate starting. Although not recognised for training by the Royal College of Surgeons, the post offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to build on existing knowledge and skills to strengthen and enhance their portfolio. Many of the previous incumbents have been successful in gaining recognised training placements in their chosen schemes. The Department of Oncology would like to recruit a Clinical Trials Data Manager who will provide data management support for both commercial and non-commercially funded cancer clinical trials undertaken by the Cambridge Cancer Drug Development (CCDD) team within the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC). Currently led by Dr Simon Pacey with fellow University Academic Consultant Medical Oncology Physicians - Dr Bristi Basu and Dr Richard Baird, our research goals are to optimise the "science-led" clinical application of novel therapies for cancer, including "first into man" (Phase I) and associated studies which are a major element of the research undertaken by the Cambridge Cancer Centre. The role includes assisting administratively with data in the registration and randomisation of patients onto clinical trials, ensuring that protocol required tests/procedures are carried out per specific schedule and in compliance with GCP guidelines and completion of trial documentation; timely and accurate reporting of trial specific data using bespoke databases (Case Report Forms). This role is as a Junior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine in one of the busiest and most varied Emergency Departments in the UK. As such you will work in both the Emergency Department which comprises adult and Paediatric areas and the Urgent Care Centre. As such you will have the opportunity to assess unwell and injured adult and paediatric patients, come up with an initial management plan and arrange onward disposal of the patient. The department has Consultant cover up until the early hours of the morning and Middle Grade cover 24 hours per day, so you are well supported. It is the ideal job for someone who wishes to just have a taster of Emergency Medicine prior to doing something else, or those committed to a career in the specialty. It is also a post suitable for those medical staff who haven’t worked in the UK or NHS before as it is so well supported. The main duty of the role is the initial assessment of adult and paediatric patients and the implementation of a management plan. There is an expectation that most cases that you assess will be discussed with a Consultant or Middle Grade doctor to confirm your plan. You will work in the Emergency Department assessing the patients in the resuscitation and majors areas of the department, the Paediatric area and the Urgent Treatment Centre where patients with minor injuries and illnesses are assessed so you gain experience in assessing a wide variety of undifferentiated patients. There is also the opportunity to learn new clinical skills such as fascia-iliaca block, suturing, local anaesthetic administration, fracture and dislocation manipulation. There is weekly departmental teaching and you get dedicated self-directed learning time for 8 hours every other week to aid your career development by doing things such as supervised quality improvement projects. An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2-CT1) to work as part of the General Surgical team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at the Royal Blackburn Hospital site. The post holder will assist in providing a clinical service in elective and emergency General Surgery to the population of East Lancashire and the adjoining areas. The post holder will be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting the privacy, dignity and choice of individual patients. The roles include out of hours work on the on call rota which is a full shift system.
