Bank CSW - Band 3 - Leighton Hospital | Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

    Mid Cheshire Hospitals - Crewe

    PermanentFull time

We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers to join our Hospital Bank. Clinical Support Workers provide care by attending to all aspects of a patient's care whilst they are in hospital. Working on the Bank means that you are likely to work in many different areas and with different teams. Bank working is a great place to develop the scope of your existing NHS healthcare experience. You must have previous experience in a NHS healthcare role and must hold the national Care Certificate or an equivalent qualification in healthcare. We do not accept people onto the Bank without previous experience in NHS healthcare. Please note that as Bank work is a casual agreement with no guaranteed hours it does not meet the UKVI requirements for employment sponsorship. Working in an acute hospital Trust is incredibly rewarding but can be busy and challenging. You will be expected to care for very unwell patients and support them with personal care (such as washing or dressing) without being embarrassed or feeling awkward. You will also need to be able to communicate empathetically and sympathetically with their advocates and relatives. You will need a flexible approach to work as the service is subject to short notice changes. Our Hospital Bank operates like an internal agency, providing staff to cover vacant ad-hoc shifts throughout the hospital. Working via the Bank gives you the flexibility to get a real work life balance and work when it suits you. Clinical Support Worker shifts cover 24 hours 7 days a week. This includes weekends, nights and Bank Holidays. Most shifts are normally 12 hours and are usually 7am - 7pm, and 7pm to 7am, but there are a variety of shifts. You must be able to work a minimum of two shifts each week. Student Nurses are exempt from this requirement. Bank workers must complete all statutory and mandatory training before they start working for Mid Cheshire Hospitals. This will be provided. Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive hospital and community services for East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). Our services include planned and unplanned/emergency care, cardiac and critical care, child health, maternity, and intermediate care across Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. Through our community arm, Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership, we deliver extensive services in 26 medical centres and schools in collaboration with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS FT and the South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance. With 500 beds and around 5,500 staff, we are one of the area’s largest employers. Since the formation of Integrated Care Systems in July 2022, the Trust has become a key partner in Cheshire East & Cheshire West and Chester and in two provider collaboratives, aligning our strategic goals with the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care System. As part of the national New Hospital Programme, we’re reimagining Leighton Hospital to create a new health and care neighbourhood, transforming healthcare delivery for a Healthier Future. Learn more on ourHealthier Futures website. At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest. Main responsibilities include: • Maintaining dignity whilst helping patients to wash or shower. • Serving food and, if necessary, helping to feed patients. • Making and changing beds. • Turning patients who are confined to bed to avoid pressure damage. • Talking with patients to help them feel less lonely or anxious. • Helping patients with mobility problems and assisting patients to rehabilitate to their discharge destination. • Giving out and collecting bedpans and assisting with the toileting needs of our patients This advert closes on Wednesday 12 Aug 2026
