The CED/PAU departments have consultant cover 5 days a week with cover between 0800-2200 and one day of the weekend 1100-1900.     An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a Consultant Haematologist post at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust to develop interest in malignant Haematology and Haemoglobinopathies. We are looking for an enthusiastic Haematologist to join our well established, dedicated and supportive team. The successful candidate will join a team of nine consultants supported by four registrars from the North East London rotation and five clinical fellows to serve a population of 750,000. Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. The post holder will have training and expertise in both malignant and non-malignant aspects of haematology and will be expected to provide the following services to a high standard: • Triage of electronic referrals from primary care including advice to GP colleagues, and acceptance of appropriate referrals on routine, urgent and suspected cancer pathways • Undertake three outpatient clinics per week • Attend and participate in an MDT relevant to your specialist area • Support the diagnostic service and complete in-house reporting of bone marrows • Attend and participate in weekly morphology review • Manage acutely unwell patients on the dedicated haematology and oncology ward as well as outlying wards and the day unit. St George’s provides a large-scale secondary and tertiary neurology and stroke service to South-West London and Surrey, delivering comprehensive care across outpatient, inpatient, and acute pathways. The department manages a broad spectrum of neurological conditions and works closely with the Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU), acute medicine, neurosurgery, neuro-rehabilitation, and critical care services. The post holder will contribute to general neurology outpatient clinics at our St Georges Site and provide in-reach neurology support to ward-based patients across the hospital, including the Clinical Neurosciences wards. They will participate in the stroke on-call rota, supporting acute stroke assessment, triage, and decision-making, and will be involved in managing and prioritising neurology referrals. The role also includes participation in clinical audit, quality improvement, and other aspects of clinical governance, as well as supporting ongoing service development.     1 Full time (37.5 hours per week) post to work between North and North East Lincolnshire, based primarily in Brigg/Scunthorpe/Grimsby, with occasional travel to Hull and East Riding screening venues. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated person to join the Humber Diabetic Eye Screening Programme as a Retinal Screener. The successful applicant will work with the Diabetic Eye screening team and be responsible for providing visual acuity examinations and digital photography during diabetic eye screening clinics. The successful applicant will be given full in house training to ensure they are competent to administer patient eye drops and perform a visual acuity test in preparing the patient for digital photography. The successful applicant will also be given full training to perform digital photography of the patient’s retina in a dark environment within an office or mobile unit. Excellent patient management during clinics is essential to ensure a timely screening process. The successful candidate must hold a current and full manual driving license and will be expected to undertake a trust driving assessment. The post holder is required to work towards and complete a Health Screener Diploma in Retinal Screening. The post holder will be supported to complete training requirements and the NHS Screener diploma with an allocated mentor/Assessor. The 4 mandatory units of the Health Screener Diploma are to be completed within 4 months of appointment to work independently, with the remainder of the qualification to be completed within 2 years of appointment to post. If you terminate your employment with the Trust during a programme of study, or up to 1 year following completion, you may be required to reimburse the Trust’s contribution towards course fees. The final reimbursement figure will be determined after considering the benefits afforded to service to date. The Trust is undergoing service transformations and review, therefore there may be a requirement in future for weekend work. The successful candidate must be able to travel to their base of work, travel expenses are not provided.
