These will be combined into one Critical Care Unit in October 2022 with the move to the New Royal We care for patients who have severe multi-organ failure and who are receiving invasive technology and monitoring support. The areas are clinically, physically and emotionally demanding though extremely satisfying when our patients improve and are transferred from Critical Care. Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse assisting the Ward / Department team in providing the highest possible standard of basic care for patients and their families/carer We are looking for highly motivated staff to join our group of HCAs in our Critical Care Group. The role involves assisting the trained staff with some elements of patient care, mobilisation etc but also involves stock control, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, patient bedspaces, and general maintenance of a clean and safe environment for our patients. We admit approximately 1400 patients a year and thrombolyse about 150 cases/year. Governance, Risk & Compliance • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, including UK medical device regulations and applicable international standards. • Lead risk management processes for medical devices, focusing on high-risk and life-support equipment. • Support medical device governance groups (e.g. Medical Devices Management Committee), ensuring structured reporting and oversight. • Drive the implementation of quality management systems and audit frameworks • To be responsible for reporting defects and failures of medical devices direct to the MHRA and liaising with the client(s) Risk Manager and relevant Clinicians regarding actions to avoid harm to patients and/or staff. The post holder will assist the MHRA in its investigation of any such defects and provide reports containing complex, sensitive and business confidential information.
