The Department fully supports all Clinical Teaching Fellows in developing the course and UMED has its own annual Undergraduate Medical Education Conference, where best and innovative practice can be shared. You will be based on the QMC & City campus and will have office space, desk and PC. This post is for a Consultant Haematologist responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical care to patients with a wide range of blood disorders, including haematological malignancy. The role also involves providing specialist advice on all aspects of haematology to colleagues across the Trust and in Primary Care. The successful applicant will be based at Furness General Hospital, with flexibility to work across Trust sites, including Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Outpatient activity will include general haematology clinics, with the opportunity to develop a sub-specialist interest. Clinics are delivered within oncology units across the three sites, in close proximity to chemotherapy delivery areas. This is a full-time 10 PA post with 2 additional programmed activities (APA), subject to negotiation and reviewed annually through the job planning process. The postholder will provide full clinical care for patients with haematological conditions, including haematological malignancy. Main duties are to offer a high standard of 1:1 care to our post operative patients during the Recovery phase. This will include adult and paediatric patients and include a range of surgical procedures and complex airway management. Advanced airway management will be offered to the successful applicant to support our acute patient needs and meet individual development plans.
