Vehicle Service Technician
ASI Recruitment Ltd - Croydon
£35,000 to £45,000 a year
On-sitePermanentFull time
“No Saturdays. No drama. Just good old-fashioned spannering.” 🔧 Vehicle Service Technician – No Saturdays. Ever. Location: Croydon Salary: £35,000–£45,000 basic Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm 20 days’ holiday + bank holidays Tired of being told “it’s only a quick job”? We’re working with a well-established family-run automotive business in Croydon that is looking for an experienced Vehicle Service Technician to join its friendly workshop team. With just five technicians in the workshop, you won’t be lost in a sea of job cards — and you’ll have your own workshop and working area to get on with the job properly. Even better? There are no Saturday shifts. Ever. Yes, you read that correctly. Your weekends are actually yours. 🔧➡️🏡 The Role This is a hands-on technician role focused primarily on servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repairs across a wide range of vehicle brands. You’ll be carrying out: • Routine servicing and maintenance • Comprehensive Vehicle Health Checks using a tablet • Brake disc and pad replacements • Tyre changes • Brake fluid replacement and correct bleeding procedures • Service light and interval resets • General vehicle safety inspections • Suspension work • Cambelt replacements • Clutch and gearbox work where required • Other general mechanical repairs and maintenance The role has a low diagnostic requirement, with minimal vehicle disassembly and no expectation that you’ll be rebuilding engines before your morning coffee. There are no regular engine rebuilds or complex engine repairs — this is a role focused on quality servicing, maintenance and mechanical work. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for an experienced technician who knows their way around a vehicle and doesn't need the Haynes manual to tell them which end of the car is which. You'll need: • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician • Level 2 NVQ, IMI or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or manufacturer-specific accreditation • Confidence carrying out Vehicle Health Checks and routine servicing independently • Experience resetting service lights and service intervals • A full UK driving licence Experience with these brands? Even better. • Mercedes-Benz • Jaguar Land Rover • Volkswagen Group • BMW & MINI Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment such as Xentry, TOPIx, ODIS or ISTA would also be advantageous. An MOT Licence would be great, but it’s not essential. What You’ll Get Because a decent technician should get more than just a decent set of tools. • £35,000–£45,000 basic salary • Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm • No Saturdays. Ever. • 20 days’ holiday + bank holidays • Free local parking • Free MOT for your primary vehicle • Discounted parts at cost price/main dealer discount • Closed over Christmas/New Year, using just 3 days of annual leave • Internal training and development • Support with external training courses if you want to keep developing • A genuine work-life balance • Great team culture • Unpaid leave considered where required A Workshop Where You Can Actually Get On With the Job This is a family-oriented business with a close-knit team and a straightforward approach. You’ll be working alongside just four other technicians, with your own working area and the support of an experienced team. There’s no Saturday scramble, no endless pressure to upsell work and no expectation that every fault code requires a three-hour investigation involving a laptop, three coffees and a call to the manufacturer. It’s a proper technician role, in a proper workshop, with proper time off. If you’re an experienced Vehicle Technician looking for a long-term role where you can do good work, develop your skills and still have a life outside the workshop, we’d like to hear from you. Apply today for a confidential conversation about the opportunity. Other Opportunities & Referral Scheme If this role isn’t quite right but you’re looking for something else in the automotive sector, please get in touch — at ASI Automotive Recruitment we’re committed to finding the right opportunity for you. We also offer a £75 voucher referral reward if you recommend a candidate who we successfully place. Confidential Job Search – Silent Search™ Looking for a new role but want to keep things private?
