Staff may also be called upon to support the department during major incidents. Patient Reception & Registration • Receive and register patients, ensuring demographic details are accurate and updated using the National Spines service and relevant IT systems. • Discharge patients and arrange follow‑up or outpatient appointments within agreed timescales. • Prepare admission paperwork and associated documentation. • Receive, check, and process patient investigations, ensuring they are reviewed by clinicians or filed appropriately. • Direct patients to clinical areas and provide assistance to those who are injured, unwell, or have mobility needs. • Support patients with general enquiries, communication needs, and transport arrangements. • Arrange interpreter services for patients with language barriers attending the GP Out‑of‑Hours (OOH) service. • Provide advice to patients and relatives regarding appointments and local services. • Alert the triage nurse to any concerns about patients in the waiting area. • Handle calls from patients, relatives, and carers regarding healthcare concerns, relaying information to clinical staff. GP Out‑of‑Hours (OOH) Patient Care • Support patient care from the moment a call is received from NHS 111 until clinical assessment begins, either by phone or face‑to‑face. • Inform patients of delays to GP OOH appointments or home visits. • Liaise with external services when required to support patient care.
