An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant radiologist to join our team at Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Hospital Trust. This is a new post and has arisen due to an increase in demand for radiology services and as a part of transformation and expansion. This is a locum post for 1 year to begin with a view to be made substantive after a year. The post-holder will join a diverse team of subspecialty radiologists and orthopaedic surgeons in the delivery of an efficient, expanding, and sustainable Urology - Gynaecology radiology service. The successful candidate will have specific training and experience in all aspects of Urology - Gynaecology imaging. They will be able to lead clinic-radiological meetings, primarily supporting the cancer. Skills in Urology - Gynaecology interventional procedures are not mandatory but there will be a degree of flexibility to accommodate the successful candidate’s preferences and interests. It is expected that the appointee will also be able to support this across the sites. The post is designed to share the responsibility for the provision of comprehensive diagnostic services including the provision of a range of MDT and on-call services. The Team caseload is around 45 – 50 cases including approximately 10 Early Intervention for Psychosis young people. The department of Acute Medicine at West Middlesex University Hospital are looking to recruit an additional consultant to compliment the well-established and forward thinking team. The Acute Assessment Unit (AMU) at West Middlesex University Hospital is comprised of 64-beds; 58 inpatient beds & 6 enhanced care beds. Emergency medical admissions are rapidly assessed in the Emergency Department and then if admission is required, directly transferred to the AMU for further management. Key Result Areas, Main Duties and Responsibilities • Provide High Quality Care to Patients • The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and revalidation. • Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post. • Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities. • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views. • Adhere to the Trust Customer Service Commitment and adopt a professional approach to customer care at all times. • Develop clinical practice through self-reflection and learning from experience, application of research into practice and active contribution within the multi-disciplinary team. Research, Teaching and Training • Contribute to high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions. • To contribute to training and teaching of medical trainees, medical students, other doctors in training and other staff groups. • Contribute to teaching and training non-Consultant postgraduate colleagues. • Contribute to the clinical and/or educational supervision and appraisal of training grade doctors in order to ensure external accreditation of training posts. • Where possible to collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s translational research/audit portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance. • There is flexibility in the job plan to dedicate variable amounts of time to research, teaching and training depending on individual interests. • Ensure that your mandatory training is up to date as per Trust policy. Performance Management Work with medical, nursing, other clinical and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in the following areas: • Clinical efficiency e.g. Length of Stay (LOS) reductions, admission on day of surgery, reducing cancelled operations and DNA rates. • Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates. • Financial management e.g. identification, implementation and achievement of cost improvement programmes and participating in efforts to ensure services are provided cost effectively e.g. managing locum agency spend, monitoring and managing the drug budget to target, ensuring accuracy of clinical data for the team. • Operational efficiency e.g. day-case rates, waiting list activity and demand management. Medical Staff Management and Accountability • Responsible for on-going assessment and regular appraisal of all doctors in training, Trust doctors and non-consultant grades as delegated by the Divisional Medical Director/Service Lead /Divisional Director of Operations. • Adhere to Trust / department guidelines on leave, including requesting and reporting absence, and professional and study leave, and to ensure that members of staff for whom you are responsible do the same. • Participate in team objective setting as part of the annual job planning cycle. • Participate fully in regular departmental activities including department meetings and team building activities. This post is partially a replacement but also a new post, created in response to the increasing demand for Stroke services provision both in hospital and the community. The successful candidate will work closely with the two existing Stroke Physicians. The Hillingdon Hospital provides Acute Stroke service for the people of Hillingdon, Hayes, Harlington, Ruislip and part of Ealing. Our designated 24 bedded Acute Stroke Unit offers intense stroke rehabilitation for patients referred by our local HASUs (NWLH & CXH). The team includes 1 x SpR from geriatric rotation, 1x CT1/2, 1x FY2 rotating every four months as well as a Trust Grade SHO. The team includes Neuro-physiotherapists, Neuro-occupational Therapists, SALT, Dietician and psychology input. There is a dedicated Stroke Clinic every week and daily TIA clinics. There is a Stroke specialist nurse at Hillingdon hospital, who supports the Stroke/TIA clinics. The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is a minimum of 9 PA including 7 PA DCC and 2 SPA. SPA includes clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training. Personal CPD must be included as part of annual appraisal which is mandatory and required for the revalidation process. The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, provide an effective and comprehensive service on the Stroke unit and the outpatient Stroke clinics. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department. The post holder will provide consultant input to the Stroke unit, ESD and outpatient Stroke services.
