They are looking for a PA who will accompany the family on day trips during the school holidays. The role involves supporting him to access social and leisure activities within the local community and helping him to enjoy age-appropriate experiences safely. He enjoys being out and about and benefits from the support of a calm, understanding person who can build a positive relationship with him. Our son has no awareness of danger and therefore requires close supervision at all times. He can become overwhelmed in certain situations and may need reassurance and support to help him regulate his behaviour. We are seeking someone who can remain calm, patient and responsive to his needs. Experience of supporting children with Autism and/or limited or non-verbal communication would be advantageous, although a positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs are equally important. He is a fan of film, comedy, football , travel and vegetarian food. He also enjoys a night out with friends. He has a wide group of family and friends many of whom live locally. The job involves assisting Sam with all self care and daily living tasks. Sam requires support at home, at work and socially , which could include nights out, day trips and holidays. The role could also involve supporting Sam with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. The role also involves taking care of Sam's flat, washing, cooking etc. Sam needs people on his team who can form strong relationships with him and put his needs first. Sam's team of personal assistants have been carefully selected and trained. We are looking for someone to join the team who understands and enjoys the role.
