The Forensic Liaison and Diversion (L&D) services aim to provide early intervention for vulnerable people of all ages as they come to the attention of the criminal justice system. L&D services provide a prompt response to concerns raised by the police, probation service, youth offending teams or court staff, and provide critical information to decision-makers in the justice system, in real time, when it comes to charging and sentencing these vulnerable people. L&D also acts as a point of referral and assertive follow up for these services users, to ensure they can access, and are supported to attend, treatment and rehabilitation appointments. In this way, L&D services are expected to help reduce reoffending, reduce unnecessary use of police and court time, ensure that health matters are dealt with by healthcare professionals, and reduce health inequalities for some of the most vulnerable in society.     Clinical Fellow (ST5-7 LEVEL) in RAC We are seeking an outstanding clinical Fellow in Rapid Access. The post is at Hillingdon NHS Trust which has an excellent reputation for its friendly, supportive culture. The post is suitable for an ST5 or above doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post is appropriate for those wishing to gain out of programme experience (OOPE). It may also be suitable for those not currently in training or those who have finished training. The service sees approximately 1500 patients per year and last year diagnosed 93 cancers. Our aim is to further improve our FDS target and streamline services to introduce more one stop clinics and straight to test diagnostics. The timetable will consist of rapid access clinics, outpatient hysteroscopy (diagnostic and operative) and colposcopy. These will initially be supervised with the aim of working towards independent practice. There will be an alternate week theatre session. The post will include daily ward rounds of any gynaecological cancer patients, prepping for the local MDT meeting and virtual attendance at the central MDT meeting at Hammersmith. In addition, the role will include: - Gynaecology outpatient clinic - Gynaecology on-call session - Guideline writing, audit and research - Teaching and supervision of other trainees (once appropriate) There will be some flexibility in tailoring the timetable and goals to the experience and wishes of the individual appointed and will support those wishing to work towards RCOG intermediate laparoscopy and ATSM’s in Oncology, benign gynaecology surgery: hysteroscopy and benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic. There is also the potential to attain BSCCP colposcopy accreditation. Training will be supervised by Mr Neale Watson (Rapid Access Lead) in conjunction with the other rapid access Consultants (Mr Maheswari, Mr Chilcott, Miss Pugh and Miss Touqmatchi) as well as Mr Ayim (for hysteroscopy) and Miss Kothari (colposcopy). The postholder will also take part in the regular out of hours Gynaecology and Obstetrics SPR rota (but 80% of daytime work will be fellowship related, as outlined in the timetable below). The Specialist Hip & Knee Unit offers an exceptional fellowship opportunity for surgeons seeking advanced training in orthopaedic procedures. Led by a team of 12 substantive consultants, the fellowship provides comprehensive exposure to complex hip and knee arthroplasty, with unique flexibility for candidates to tailor their experience towards either arthroplasty, hip surgery or knee surgery. The Fellow’s post will provide exposure to all aspects of the management of patients with primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty and complex limb reconstruction. There will be ample opportunity to assist and gain experience with the full range of extremity and pelvic surgical cases. Attendance at arthroplasty MDT meetings is expected. The Fellow will be allocated to one of the sub teams within the unit and have the opportunity to rotate at 6 months. The Fellow will attend fixed outpatient clinics and operating lists. There will be opportunities to sit in clinic with the consultants as a learning experience as well as see patients independently. Likewise, in theatre, there will be opportunities to assist with complex surgical procedures as well as undertake surgery as the lead surgeon. As the fellow gains in experience they will be able to work more and more independently over time. There will be supervised research sessions. The post holder will be expected to present research at national and international meetings. This is a Senior Clinical Fellow position in the upper GI surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne, with a contribution to emergency surgery at the RVI. The General Surgery Directorate is a busy directorate, and the post will give significant experience in Upper GI procedures, including oesophageal and gastric resections, benign upper GI cases and general surgery.
