National and Specialist CAMHS present an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly motivated and experienced specialist clinician to a full-time band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist post within the multi-disciplinary SCAAND team based at the new Pears Maudsley. SCAAND provides a number of streams of mental health care for autistic young people and young people with other neurodevelopmental conditions including intellectual disability and we offer a specific occupational therapy pathway which offers comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions. We have a new sensory integration intervention room which will provide new, exciting opportunities for delivery of occupational therapy. Clinical work in the team is diverse, collaborative, evidence-based and truly multi-disciplinary, and includes an interesting mix of direct and indirect intervention and consultation to clinicians in local teams. The role offers a range of service development, supervision, teaching, clinical leadership and research opportunities, and SCAAND clinicians have access to a range of CPD and training both within and outside of SLAM NHS Trust. The postholder will work as a Senior Occupational Therapist in SCAAND contributing to comprehensive MDT assessments, providing specialist occupational therapy assessment, formulation and interventions for children, young people parents/carers, and providing consultation, training and support to local CAMHs clinicians and multi-agency networks. Key components of this post will involve both assessment skills (sensory/motor assessments to understand participation, behaviour and emotional regulation) as well as adapted intervention skills; and good knowledge of development and neurodevelopment is important. The role also includes providing supervision to students and team support. Supporting the occupational therapy aspects of case formulation and planning within the MDT is also a key component of the role, and highly valued within the team in both regular meetings and joint working. There are also opportunities for developing and delivering teaching and training internally, to local training programmes, and to external services and other agencies. We have been delivering ½ day workshops to various services around England. The post holder will work closely with occupational therapists in SCAAND, AID-IIT and Orchid and other N&S CAMHS teams. SCAAND provides support for children and young people with a range of neurodevelopmental needs, including autism and intellectual disability, who present with additional mental health, emotional and/or behavioural needs. Children and young people referred to the service may also have associated genetic conditions, sensory impairments, physical impairments or other additional needs. The service aims to work alongside local services to support the care for children and young people, and provides comprehensive assessment, specialist intervention, and consultation. SCAAND is comprised of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, a Behaviour Therapist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Specialist Autism Education lead and Senior Team Administrators. SCAAND sits within the National Specialist CAMHS department within the CAMHS Directorate of a Mental Health Foundation Trust and SLAM is part of the Kings Maudsley Partnership, facilitating close working, academic/learning opportunities and good support for the postholder. Clinical Fellow (ST5-7 LEVEL) in RAC We are seeking an outstanding clinical Fellow in Rapid Access. The post is at Hillingdon NHS Trust which has an excellent reputation for its friendly, supportive culture. The post is suitable for an ST5 or above doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post is appropriate for those wishing to gain out of programme experience (OOPE). It may also be suitable for those not currently in training or those who have finished training. The service sees approximately 1500 patients per year and last year diagnosed 93 cancers. Our aim is to further improve our FDS target and streamline services to introduce more one stop clinics and straight to test diagnostics. The timetable will consist of rapid access clinics, outpatient hysteroscopy (diagnostic and operative) and colposcopy. These will initially be supervised with the aim of working towards independent practice. There will be an alternate week theatre session. The post will include daily ward rounds of any gynaecological cancer patients, prepping for the local MDT meeting and virtual attendance at the central MDT meeting at Hammersmith. In addition, the role will include: - Gynaecology outpatient clinic - Gynaecology on-call session - Guideline writing, audit and research - Teaching and supervision of other trainees (once appropriate) There will be some flexibility in tailoring the timetable and goals to the experience and wishes of the individual appointed and will support those wishing to work towards RCOG intermediate laparoscopy and ATSM’s in Oncology, benign gynaecology surgery: hysteroscopy and benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic. There is also the potential to attain BSCCP colposcopy accreditation. Training will be supervised by Mr Neale Watson (Rapid Access Lead) in conjunction with the other rapid access Consultants (Mr Maheswari, Mr Chilcott, Miss Pugh and Miss Touqmatchi) as well as Mr Ayim (for hysteroscopy) and Miss Kothari (colposcopy). The postholder will also take part in the regular out of hours Gynaecology and Obstetrics SPR rota (but 80% of daytime work will be fellowship related, as outlined in the timetable below). We deliver acute services at Hillingdon Hospital, as well as some services at Mount Vernon Hospital. The Trust has a turnover of around £250m and employs over 3,300 staff. Clinical: • Lead on assessing planning and implementing high quality care, and evaluating care options for patients in the clinical area, in line with the Trust values and objectives • Lead on complex clinical care for patients within their area • Ensure the safe custody, maintenance and administration of medication, in accordance with established Trust policy • Promote and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, their families and staff, according to national and local Infection Control guidelines, Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies and objectives • Coordinate discharges and transfers, promoting timely and safe processes for them • Ensure that patient flow and the management of beds is effective and safe • Ensure the delivery of high quality end of life care in line with national pathways, e.g. Liverpool Care Pathway, through the provision of holistic palliative and terminal care • Provide sound evidence based clinical advice as required to staff and patients • Maintain a good understanding and implementation of clinical escalation procedures as required • Understand the Trust clinical governance framework, and participate in the promoting and safeguarding of high standards of care, through effective risk management & governance, and adherence to the Trust values • Ensure that the team promote, ensure and adhere to the Trust safeguarding polices • Undertake effective multi professionally work with colleagues to deliver care • Coordinate and manage nurse led clinics where appropriate • Coordinate specialist functions, including making clinical decisions where appropriate • Monitor quality of standards of care, in line with CQC requirements and Trust and Divisional objectives • Deliver and supervise a high quality patient experience • Work with manager to collect and disseminate data on quality indicators etc, in line with national and Trust objectives • Maintain a safe working environment, including ensuring equipment is safe, and used in line with Trust policy and values • Promote and maintain patient safety at all times, including proactively implementing falls prevention • Lead role in the detection, management and prevention of safeguarding issues • Have an awareness of current professional and clinical developments within their area of practice and promote this to others 2. Leadership and management: • Manage the day to day staffing arrangements and rotas, to ensure safe levels of practice • Be a shift coordinator on a regular basis where appropriate • Ensure staff adhere to Trust protocols of care, eg Infection Control • Take continuing responsibility for the Ward / Department in absence of manager • Participate in senior nurse / unit on call rota / bleep holder (some areas, eg paediatrics) as appropriate • Lead and manage their own clinical team within general clinical areas, and of the total team in the absence of the manager, in line with Trust values • Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with other professional groups, and staff generally within the Division and the Trust • Contribute to the effective management of the area by ensuring correct levels of staff are in place to deliver and assist with the planning of off duty rotas • Assist in the delivery of induction / orientation of new staff • Act as a role model, ensuring staff work to Trust guidelines and values • Supervise, under the direction of their manager, the work of qualified and unqualified staff and learners • Provide clinical support and guidance to staff • Act as a resource for clinical knowledge to staff • Initiate action on complaints & incident management and responses, and assist in their investigation and resolution • Participate in recruitment and selection, and develop effective selection and interviewing skills • Undertake appraisals of staff, following training • Chair team meetings as required • Lead on specific projects, as indicated and agreed by manager • Have a working knowledge of budget arrangements for area, focussing on cost effectiveness and quality, to ensure maximum use of resource • Understand and manage local change with team members, including the embedding of new projects 3.Education & research: • Participate in the education of all learners within their area • Actively support and assist in preceptor ship and in pre-registration student support, supervision and guidance including mentorship where appropriate • Identify and respond to learning needs for area • Develop and deliver or organise local training sessions, mindful of the Trust values • Facilitate others in the development of informal teaching skills • Participate in the annual training needs analysis for their area • Participate in any local or related research projects, clinical trials etc • Apply and encourage others to utilise evidence based practice and relevant research findings in practice • Identify areas of nursing / midwifery research within their area that will be of benefit, and encourage and educate other staff to recognise the importance of research • Participate in clinical supervision / acting as supervisor 1.
