As a Senior Clinician, the successful candidate will work closely with the MHST Clinical and Team Lead and Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, to ensure success of the MHST. Main duties include: They will support and provide a high-quality service to students (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Work closely with the team to ensure children and young people receive faster access to earlier mental health support. This will be done through the supervision and line management of Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Senior Wellbeing Practitioners and through direct delivery of evidence-based interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service, utilising skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice, and knowledge of whole school approaches to mental health. Practice in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. To provide assessment of health, development, and biopsychosocial needs, and provide a risk assessment and formulation of children and young people presenting with a wide variety of mild to moderate mental health and social needs. 2. Complete psychosocial formulations to inform care planning. 3. To provide consultation as required to other professionals (such as teachers and family workers) around mental health difficulties in children and young people. 4. To provide consultation as required to young people around their mental health difficulties. 5. To provide consultation as required to parents around the mental health difficulties of their child. 6. To offer interventions such as CBT, solution focussed work, guided self-help and group support to children and young people. 7. To enhance emotional wellbeing and to promote or build resilience in children and young people through educational workshops, assemblies and PSHE lessons. 8. To deliver psychoeducation and support to parents/carers and education staff. 9. To supervise and manage other members of the team, including Senior Wellbeing Practitioners and EMHPs, through the delivery CBT-informed supervision. 10. To oversee the formulation of treatment and management plans for schools, parents/carers, children and young people being supported by the EMHPs and the Senior Wellbeing Practitioners, using a range of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to the service in individual and group contexts. 11. To work with the team and stakeholders to determine how delivery of care will need to be altered in the different settings dependent on need (for example, to consider the provision required for special schools). 12. To produce accurate records, reports and observations as required 13. To refer on, or signpost, to appropriate specialist agencies when required. 14. To liaise closely with other professionals including colleagues in the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service, GPs, Paediatricians, Specialist CAMHS, school counsellors, Children’s Services, and other voluntary agencies. 15. To measure outcomes for all interventions. 16. To contribute to team multi-disciplinary working. 17. To support the roll out of further MHST’s within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. 18. Demonstrate appropriate understanding of the legal and ethical issues in providing mental health care to children and young people. 19. Demonstrate an understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act. The post-holder will be required to work with young people whose behaviour may be personally challenging and deal with frequent exposure to highly distressing or highly emotional circumstances. The Community Access Team support the Admission Avoidance pathways in the Emergency Department, Frailty Unit, fracture clinic and short stay wards. Community Access Team also leads the Discharge to Assess pathway 2 supporting the transfer of patients from acute wards to the Intermediate Care Units. The service runs seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, and consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Senior Nurses and Assistant Practitioners. The Admission Avoidance team operates against Emergency Department waiting targets and the successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication, as well as strong clinical reasoning skills. The ability to complete quick and decisive assessments is essential. We see and assess patients with a wide variety of conditions, including long term disabilities, orthopaedic and neurological conditions. You will be working alongside another worker who has a good rapport with and is experienced in supporting this little boy. The support is to encourage socialisation with peers and engagement in age-appropriate activities outside of the family home. The child lives at home with his parents and three siblings. He has a diagnosis of ADHD, autisim, learning difficulties, nystagmus and a rare chromosome abnormality. He does have a gastronomy feeding tube in situ and full training will be provided on this prior to commencement. Personal care, including toileting will be required within the role. The young boy is very active and enjoys climbing, being outside in the car and generally making a mess; as most children his age do. He does need somebody who can calm his behaviour when he becomes over excited. Support workers are required to support him in engaging with activities such as soft play whilst ensuring his safety at all times. You should be physically fit to undertake this role. A car driver is not essential as there is a lot to do locally. However, if you are a car driver you should have business use insurance as a necessity. Mileage will be paid in agreement with the employer.
