The role of the Nursing Associate is to work with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians. The Nursing Associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process (Health Education England 2018). Nursing Associates are accountable professionals who are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a Nursing Associate and will work to a nationally recognised Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct. The Registered Nursing Associate (RNA) will work as part of the multidisciplinary team within the Mersey Care District Nursing service, delivering high-quality, person-centred care under the direction of registered nurses. The RNA will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, supporting patients with a range of health needs in their own homes and community settings.     The Trust is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join Walton CMHT based at Norris Green Hub, Falklands Approach, L11. The vacancy has arisen as a result of the previous substantive post holder retiring. This post is one of three CMHT general adult consultant psychiatrist posts (the other 2 are also 1 WTE each) within Norris Green hub. Norris Green Hub serves a catchment area of around 120,000, covering the Mid to North areas of Liverpool for adults of working age. The current post encompasses the Walton catchment areas. This is a demographically mixed area overall, but with some areas of social deprivation and some drug and alcohol- related difficulties in an urban environment. The post holder will carry no responsibility for inpatients. The staff at Norris Green Hub are organised in three distinct CMHTs. This CMHT consists of: 1 whole time equivalent (WTE) consultant psychiatrist (this post) 1 WTE higher / core Psychiatric Trainee. 0.5 WTE dedicated medical secretary, Band 4 and a full time band 3 shared with the other 2 teams. 1 Band 7 team leader 5 WTE community psychiatric nurses (band 6 and band 5) 7 WTE social workers shared between the 3 teams 1 WTE senior occupational therapist, Band 6 shared between the 3 teams 1 WTE psychologist. 4 WTE support time and recovery workers, Band 3 shared between the 3 teams Input from the Hub Lithium Clinic and Health and Wellbeing Clinic. General duties To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures. This may include assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework. To ensure that junior medical staff working with the post holder operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant. To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients. To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the Information Department. To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service. To participate in annual appraisal for consultants. To comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services. External duties, roles and responsibilities The Trust actively supports the involvement of the consultant body in regional and national groups subject to discussion and approval with the chief medical officer and, as necessary, the chief executive officer. Other duties From time to time, it may be necessary for the post holder to carry out such other duties as may be assigned, with agreement, by the Trust. It is expected that the post holder will not unreasonably withhold agreement to any reasonable proposed changes that the Trust might make. Work programme It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over 5 days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinical manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder. The overall split of the programmed activities is 7.5 to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2.5 to supporting professional activities (as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation). The timetable is indicative only. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and associate medical director or clinical manager three months after commencing the post and at least annually thereafter. On-call and cover arrangements The post holder will be included in the daily on-call rota for North Liverpool. There is usually always a higher trainee ST4-6 first on call at night. On-call availability supplement is 1% - Band B low frequency, low intensity and has been consistently for many years.     Mental Health Waking Night Support Worker, Young People Ashton on Ribble, Preston £2808.78 - £29709.68 per annum dependent on experience. (Pro rata for part time hours) Two Part Time Vacancies Available- 22 Hours Per Week 27.5 Hours Per Week Average - You will be required to work on a rotating pattern of three shifts one week and two shifts the next. Essential requirements of a Healthcare Support Worker • Flexibility - Your role will involve working night shifts including weekends and bank holiday • Must be able to attend training throughout employment which will be held on weekdays • Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately • Basic IT skills (Your role will involve some computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, and writing emails) • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others • An ability to maintain a professional working boundary • Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations Desirable Criteria of a Healthcare Support Worker • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care • Full UK Manual Driving Licence - Not Automatic • Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old. Our young people can still be quite active at night so you will have lots of interaction and will be required to support them their wellbeing, education, household tasks and general life skills. There will also be more challenging aspects to the role such as incident management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours. You will be required to update online care records, complete medication administration and provide effective handovers to the day staff. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment. Even though you are working nights, you will have the support of another night worker or a sleep in and have access to an on-call manager for additional support. At our home in Preston you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnoses including personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, those who have difficult relationships with food, and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions. This role requires patience, resilience, and compassion as you support our young people to navigate various challenges and develop new skills. When asked what qualities are the most important to them in a staff team, our young people have said they would like caring, honest, understanding, fun, and kind people to come and work with them. They love to learn new things and have a variety of hobbies and interests that they like to share with the team. They’re also an adventurous bunch who engage in a variety of activities such as going to the zoo, museums, outdoor sports, theme parks, and escape rooms to name a few. Our young people are working towards moving on positively from the home into the community and are developing skills that support their independence and autonomy. Florida House is a newly renovated 6-bed service located in Ashton-on-Ribble, the house is large and modern with spacious bedrooms and communal areas which includes a kitchen/dining area, two lounge areas, two bathrooms and one shower room. The house also has a fairly sized garden which is perfect for summer BBQs and outdoor games. It is a short drive or bus journey away from Preston Town Centre, there are also various local amenities such as Preston Railway Station; Preston Docklands including a cinema, shopping, food and beverage outlets; as well as local parks. The home is well cared for and staff and young people work together to make it homely and welcoming. Previous care experience is not essential and full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team which includes Reflective Practice, 1:1 supervisions and Group Staff support. The job is highly rewarding and a great start to developing your career working with young people or enhancing your previous experience of mental health with the opportunity for excellent career development.
