This post involves the shared responsibility for the leadership and management of the residential care services provided across the whole service. The residential provision is a registered children’s home with a significant clinical input to support children with trauma and self-harming behaviours. As ‘Head of Care, you will be supporting the General Manager’s to meet the legal and regulatory requirements associated with the running of a children’s home. You will ensure that legal and regulatory duties are fulfilled, risk is managed and best practice for regulatory guidance is implemented. This includes providing oversight the management of the quality of all care services provided, including staffing, delegated budgets, the resources and fabric of the buildings and the welfare of the children living at the home. Responsibility may also extend to managing the establishment as a whole for periods of time in the absence of the Registered Manager. A key function of this role will be to implement and monitor processes to ensure delivery on strategic objectives while meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring that care staff are led and managed in a competent and effective way which provides a positive and supportive working environment for them whilst ensuring a pleasant and high quality lifestyle for the Children living at Merida. There is a heavy reliance on the ability to lead, manage, supervise and support. In most cases this will be through the Registered Managers and Homes Team Leaders. As Head of Care you will strive for excellence in everything you do, have integrity, champion expertise through improvement and innovation and be a great team player. By developing risk monitoring and review/audit cycles to secure compliance you will be driving the quality of care service forward at establishment level and making valuable contributions to the Group as a whole. Working in partnership with the Registered Manager, you will be expected to maintain a high degree of awareness of individual programmes and to advise, create, monitor and evaluate the implementation of individual care and activity plans for the children living at Merida.
