A day in the life of a Murphy Project Manager: - To be fully accountable for the delivery of the projects, ensuring it is completed safely, on time, in accordance with the contract requirements and to budget. - Sets the overall standard on the projects/contract. - Ensure the project requirements are identified and delivered. - Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner. - To ensure contract programmes are planned, reviewed, and delivered. - Line management of Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and Section Managers. - Responsible for effective client relationship management, collaborative approach and providing updates to internal and external stakeholders on project/contract progress. - Ensures operating plans are in place to ensure sufficient resources and materials are in place. - Will be expected to resolve most operational issues with any business-critical issues referred to the Project Director. - Responsible for all commercial activities associated with the project including the delivery of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics. - Overall performance management of subcontractors of the gross margin, management of cost control and other key commercial and financial metrics. The Skills: To be successful in this role, joining as a Store Manager you’ll need the following skills and experience: A genuine passion for pets and people — delighting customers with an unrivalled shopping experience. Expect to meet customers with paws, claws or feathers, so comfort around animals is a must. Previous retail store management experience, with a hands-on approach to running the business day-to-day and planning for short, medium and long-term success. Commercially confident on the shop floor — comfortable modelling and coaching upselling and add-on sales conversations with customers, not just reviewing sales figures after the fact. A sound decision-maker who communicates objectives clearly and builds high-performing, engaged teams, with succession plans in place for future leaders. A proven track record of developing business performance and exceeding KPIs, while maintaining high store standards, health & safety, and legal compliance. Commercially aware, able to manage your P&L with a proactive approach. Own transport with a UK driving licence, as occasional out-of-hours store visits or regional cover may be needed. Full time, permanent role. 40 hours/week, working 5 days out of 7. This includes some evenings and weekend cover when our stores can be busiest. You will oversee tenancy management, property compliance, repairs and maintenance, Housing Benefit and exempt accommodation, while providing leadership and support to the housing team. Working closely with residents, landlords, local authorities and other stakeholders, you will ensure high-quality housing services, maintain regulatory compliance, and support the ongoing development and improvement of our housing provision.
