Project Manager - Transformation Programme 19 – 24 Month Fixed Term Contract Thames Water is seeking a talented and highly motivated Project Manager to join our Retail PMO team, supporting the delivery of a major procurement and operational transformation programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within one of Thames Water's most significant transformation programmes, helping to deliver lasting change across our operations, technology and customer services. This is not a traditional PMO or reporting role. We're looking for an experienced Project Manager who can actively influence delivery outcomes, challenge plans, identify risks early and work alongside the Programme Manager to drive successful programme delivery across multiple workstreams. Working alongside the Programme Manager, you will be at the centre of programme delivery, ensuring governance is effective, risks are understood, dependencies are actively managed, and stakeholders have the insight they need to make informed decisions. This role is ideal for a Project Manager who understands how complex programmes are delivered, not just how they are reported. We are looking for someone who can provide constructive challenge, identify issues before they become blockers, influence delivery teams and help drive successful outcomes across multiple workstreams. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, solving complex delivery challenges and collaborating with senior stakeholders to make things happen, we'd love to hear from you. What you will be doing as a Project Manager - Take ownership of programme governance and controls, ensuring effective management of decisions, actions, risks and dependencies across the programme. - Lead the coordination of governance forums, maintaining governance calendars, decision logs, RAID logs and action trackers. - Produce high-quality weekly and monthly programme reporting, bringing together updates from multiple workstreams into a clear and coherent programme-wide view. - Analyse programme performance and delivery progress, identifying trends, emerging risks and areas requiring intervention. - Work closely with the Programme Manager and workstream leads to proactively manage risks, issues and dependencies, driving mitigation and resolution activities. - Build strong working relationships across programme workstreams, delivery teams, business stakeholders and suppliers. - Challenge plans, readiness activities and delivery progress to ensure commitments are achievable and potential issues are identified early. - Support recovery planning where delivery is at risk and provide recommendations to improve programme performance. - Prepare materials and insights for senior stakeholder meetings, governance forums and Steering Committees. - Represent the programme within selected meetings and deputise for the Programme Manager where appropriate. What you should bring to the role Essential - Proven Project Management experience delivering complex business transformation initiatives. - Experience working within large-scale programmes involving procurement, operational transformation or significant business change. - Strong experience of programme governance, reporting, RAID management and delivery controls. - Demonstrable experience coordinating multiple workstreams and managing complex interdependencies. - Proven ability to identify risks and issues early, provide constructive challenge and drive actions through to resolution. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate detailed delivery information into concise programme-level insight. - Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging senior leaders, programme sponsors and delivery teams. - Strong organisation skills with the ability to work across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Experience producing high-quality reporting and presentations for senior stakeholders. Desirable - Experience within utilities, water, energy, telecommunications, financial services or other regulated industries. - PRINCE2, APM, MSP or equivalent project or programme management qualification. - Experience working with large suppliers and complex procurement activities. How you will work with the Programme Manager The Programme Manager retains accountability for overall programme outcomes, strategic direction, stakeholder leadership and key decision-making. As Project Manager, you will work alongside the Programme Manager to establish and operate effective programme controls, governance and coordination activities. You will increasingly provide delivery insight, constructive challenge and practical recommendations to support successful programme delivery. This role goes beyond reporting programme status. You will actively influence delivery outcomes by maintaining visibility across workstreams, identifying emerging issues, driving actions to resolution and helping the Programme Manager make informed decisions. Base Location Hybrid working with typically 2-3 days per week in the office, flexing up or down depending on programme requirements and delivery phase. The role will be based between Langley and Reading; ad hoc travel to Swindon and London may be required. Hours: 36 hours per week. Deputy Manager – Jollyes Pets - Hailsham. Salary £28,500 - £30,000 p.a. + bonus potential of up to £2k p.a*. Following exciting recent and continued growth, Jollyes is looking for a talented individual to be the Deputy Manager in our Hailsham store. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an award-winning company voted Best Retailer in the Retail Week awards, and included in the Sunday Times 'Best Places to Work' list and accredited by the Pet Sustainability Coalition. This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be on the shop floor every day - supporting your Store Manager and coaching the team through live customer interactions, helping with deliveries, and setting the standard through what you do, not just what you say. If you want to build your leadership experience and see the impact of it in real time, read on. The Benefits: At Jollyes, we’re as passionate about our people as we are about our pets! We think our tail-wagging benefits package reflects our appreciation for all that our colleagues do and provides support where it’s needed most. Competitive salary of £28,500 - £30,000 p.a., plus annual bonus potential of up to £2k p.a., *subject to reaching pre-agreed measures. Financial Wellbeing Package (Stream): Access earnings early, plus savings tools and discounts. Retail Trust Membership: Counselling, wellbeing, and financial support. Colleague Discounts: Treats at 800+ retailers, plus 30% off Jollyes products and pet services. Health & Wellbeing Support: Online GP, mental health services, fitness programs, dental care, and cancer support. Workplace Pension: Legal & General scheme (EE 3%, ER 5%). Extra Time Off: Birthday, wedding, new pet days, plus buy/sell holiday options. Enhanced Family Leave: Maternity and paternity packages above statutory levels. Recognition & Rewards: Top Dog Award with extra day off and perks. Lifestyle Benefits: Cycle2Work scheme and discounted David Lloyd membership. Learning & Development: Ongoing training for career growth. The Role – Deputy Store Manager: Supporting your Store Manager in leading the team day-to-day, deputising fully in their absence and helping create an excellent culture and working environment, demonstrating our values of being: Genuine, Wise, Eager, Focused, Together. Running a successful store - helping to manage KPIs around people, store standards, customer service, and financial performance, and playing a key role in maximising turnover and gross margin while controlling costs. Helping build a strong sales culture in-store: coaching your team to spot every opportunity to add value for the customer - confidently suggesting complementary products, seasonal offers, or additional services that genuinely improve the experience for pets and their owners. This isn't about hard-selling - it's about helping your team have great conversations that naturally lead to a bigger basket and a better-served customer. Ensuring you and your team deliver the highest standards of pet care, with pet welfare always the top priority, and promoting responsible pet ownership. Delivering exceptional customer service and a great shopping experience, with strong pet* and product* knowledge across the team. (*Training given) Supporting the recruitment, motivation, training and development of your team, and helping to promote Jollyes as an employer of choice locally. Sharing clear communication of key business updates and individual/team objectives. Genuinely hands-on, not office-based. You'll be out front with your team and customers — helping with deliveries, walking the floor, and helping drive performance through what you see and do in-store, not from behind a screen. Physically active by nature. Our products can be heavy and retail keeps you on your feet most of the day — if the idea of a desk job doesn't appeal, this could be exactly what you're looking for. If you'd need any reasonable adjustments to succeed in this role, just let us know in your application. The Skills: To be successful in this role, joining as a Deputy Manager you’ll need the following skills and experience: A genuine passion for pets and people - delighting customers with an unrivalled shopping experience. Expect to meet customers with paws, claws or feathers when customers bring their pets into our store, so comfort around animals is a must. Some previous retail supervisory or management experience, with a hands-on approach and a readiness to step up and lead when needed. Commercially confident on the shop floor - comfortable modelling and encouraging upselling and add-on sales conversations with customers. A clear communicator who can motivate a team and support succession planning for future leaders. Has contributed to strong business performance and KPIs in a previous role, while helping maintain high store standards, health & safety, and legal compliance. Commercially aware, with an interest in developing your understanding of P&L management. Own transport with a UK driving licence, as occasional out-of-hours store visits or regional cover may be needed. Full time, permanent role — 40 hours/week, working 5 days out of 7. This includes some evenings and weekend cover when our stores can be busiest. About Jollyes Pets Jollyes are an award-winning UK pet retailer with over 120 stores and over 50 years of pet expertise between our paws. Winners of the Retail Week award for 'Best Retailer' (under £250m t/o) and Pet Retailer of the Year at the Pet Industry Federation Awards, listed in the Sunday Times 'Best Place to Work' and shortlisted for 'Happiest Place to Work', you really can be sure you're joining a great brand and employer, trusted by our customers and our colleagues. Accredited by 'Rest Less' as an age-inclusive employer we welcome applications of all ages (16+), and with our accreditation to the Pet Sustainability Coalition, we're friendly to pets, people and the planet too!
