Lung Cancer Screening Programme Manager - Kent and Medway ICS Only
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust - Maidstone
£57,528 - £64,750 per annum pro rata
ContractFull time
A Vacancy at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is a high-profile national initiative to support early diagnosis of cancer. The programme offers lung cancer screening to participants who are either current or former smokers between the ages of 55-74, with the aim of improving earlier diagnosis of lung cancer at a stage when it is more treatable and ultimately saving more lives. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the ongoing expansion and development of the LCSP across the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance geography. Kent and Medway has developed an in-house LCSP delivery model, meaning that each of our NHS Trusts will deliver the programme for its eligible population. Each Trust is at a different stage of mobilisation, but the programme overall has already invited over 40,000 people. The forthcoming year will be a vital time for the Kent and Medway LCSP, as our remaining sites commence delivering the programme, and as we build on the significant work that has already taken place to engage our harder to reach communities to encourage even greater uptake of the programme. The LCSP will become the fourth national screening programme with effect from 2030, and to support that ambition , Cancer Alliances are required to invite 100% of the eligible population by 2029/30. This role will therefore play a key part in achieving this ambition for Kent and Medway. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is one of the best performing hospital trusts in England. We are regularly in the top five for emergency department performance and offer some of the fastest access to cancer treatment in the country. We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in west Kent and East Sussex. With a dedicated and diverse team of over 7,000 staff we provide specialist cancer services to over two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre. We operate from three main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital, Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Fordcombe Hospital, and provide outpatient clinics across Kent and East Sussex.
